Race Day High

Well here we go again...So, I started running the other day to prepare for the 5K I am going to participate in. Yes, you are sensing my enthusiasm! I haven’t run since the 5K Turkey Trot in November. The first steps back running are always the hardest to take. I ran for 20 minutes straight and then died. Do I enjoy running? I can honestly say: Nope! Hmm....you may ask, "why do you run?" I run for the race day high. What a rush it is. There’s the anticipation the night before, the anxiety the day of, the crowd of people cheering you on, the bang of the gun at the starting line, the sense of dread at mile 2, and the sense of ACCOMPLISHMENT at the finish line. And then...the next day I can’t walk and I ask myself, "why did I do that again?"

So here I am, starting to train for another race that last only 30-90 minutes. That sounds ridiculous to me. I tell you, once you run in one race...it’s addicting.

This year, some family members are going to participate with me. Grace is going to run again, and my mom is running, my mother-in-law, and my sister. I can’t wait to share the experience with them and I can’t wait for the race day high!
